Reflexology

Reflexology is a wonderfully relaxing holistic, complementary therapy.  It works on the basis that the whole body is reflected onto the feet and hands, and that by having a therapist gently work specific reflex points on your feet or hands, all areas of the body are effectively treated and brought into balance, naturally.
Today’s stressful lifestyle with its many demands and trials can leave you feeling as if you’re constantly on the go, and never having a minute for yourself – whether pregnant or not!  During pregnancy however, reflexology has many benefits, both for you and your baby, and will help you regain your sense of calm and being able to cope.  During pregnancy, you need to maintain your strength and energy so as to be able to give your baby the best you can, and to be able to cope when baby is born.  Reflexology is wonderful in preparation for, and throughout pregnancy.

It prepares you mentally and physically for conception, pregnancy, birth, and helps you in your post-natal recovery.  Reflexology can be used throughout pregnancy, however the general caution is given to the first twelve weeks.
Benefits include:

  • Improved energy levels

  • Improved sleep

  • Proper digestion

  • Reduction in heartburn and reflux

  • Increased sense of calm

  • Strengthened immune system

  • Hormone and endocrine system balancing

  • Reduction in swelling

  • Reduced incidence of breech babies

  • Greater likelihood of staying calm, relaxed and in control during labour

Lisa Dillon-Heeney is a member of the Irish Reflexologists’ Institute (www.reflexology.ie) and has enjoyed supporting women through their pregnancies using reflexology since 2001.  Lisa says it’s easy to have a lot of faith in reflexology and its benefits given that she sees, every day, how her clients are enjoying their pregnancies and maintaining a sense of well-being and calm.  Reflexology babies also sleep and eat better, and are generally calmer and more content.

Lisa works in the comfortable and unhurried setting of her own home in Drogheda where she takes pride in the fact that she is able to give each client the time and attention that they need and deserve.  If you would like to speak to Lisa to book an appointment, or just for more information, please contact her on 087 858 1752.
